d'Entremont outstanding in Blades third straight win

A wild and crazy day at the 2024 Don Johnson Memorial Cup in Mt. Pearl, Newfoundland.  The day started with the defending Atlantic Junior Champions the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs losing 3-2 in overtime to the Kent Coyotes from New Brunswick.  The Bulldogs struck for a pair of goals in the opening period off the sticks of Ethan Twolan and Nick Marshall while Cole Fraser sandwiched a goal in between to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead after the opening period.

Julien LeBlanc tied the game at 2-2 with only 1:20  left in the second period and that was all the scoring until Jeremie Caissie tallied the game winner with 4:18 left in the first overtime period.  The Coyotes outshot the Bulldogs 37-25.

The Vipers Carson MacKay and Jesse Blanchard both scored a pair of goals for the P.E.I. Champions.  MacKay’s pair came in the first period before the game was six minutes old.  Blanchard scored his pair exactly three minutes apart in the second period.  The Vipers now have a regulation win, an overtime win and an overtime loss to give them 6 points in the standings.  The Capitals who simply have not been able to find their mo-jo at all dropped their third consecutive game of the tournament.  They will be playing for their playoff lives when they face the Coyotes from New Brunswick Friday afternoon.  A regulation win is almost mandatory for the Capitals if they hope to squeeze into that fourth and final playoff spot.

Andrew d’Entremont literally stood on his head for the host Mt. Pearl Blades Thursday night as he stopped all 44 shots he faced as his Blades won their third consecutive game of the tournament 3-0 over the New Brunswick Champions.  The Blades were outshot 44-19 including 19-7 in the opening period and 15-3 in the final period when they scored all three of their goals.  Cameron Frost was the only player to beat Zachary LeBlanc as after the Blades took a 1-0 lead, they later scored two empty net goals off the sticks of Ethan Moore and Nicholas Moore for the 3-0 win.
